Stealing Back Television

To make a television show, artists need permission from a faceless corporation. And the life of that show depends on secret metrics, shareholders’ stock portfolios, and the whims of CEOs who’ve never lifted a boom or pulled focus.

It’s way past time for that flawed business model to end.

The Heist Collective is a group of indie production companies that are taking the power back from the conglomerates that stole it in the first place. And we’re no longer asking for permission. We’re not asking for anything. We’re telling the old guard how it’s going to be.

Companies think of the television industry as a competition. Which show led in the ratings? What streamer is on top? We don’t. We see it as a collaboration. We support each other, we connect each other. To us, one artist or show’s success lifts us all. Because each success makes the next project more plausible, more possible.

And though it won’t be easy, there’s already proof that it works. Indie television is being made right now without corporations, without having to ask for permission. And those shows are finding audiences. Yes, the heist is already underway. And it’ll change television forever.

The revolution is coming. And it will be televised.
